Pilot 1: Determine potential fuel savings using Energy Efficiency techniques


Nomad Tech’s NT ECO system was installed, on a Desiro Class 96 vehicle identifying potential savings of 14%. This results were achieved by telemetering , additional 10% additional potential savings can be achieved through the Driver Advisor System (these alongside with Fuel Theft detection and Condition Based Maintenance techniques, can reduce the fleet maintenance costs and improve the fleet’s availability and reliability, making this solution even more attractive.




First (Immediate) Results:

The implemented system enables, in an easy and reliable way, the following main initial features (among others):
•Remote Condition Monitoring of the diagnostic data and events existing  on the Train Management System (TMS)
• Identification of potential fuel savings;
• Analysis and identification of driving profiles;
• Collection of operational data for fuel consumption analysis;
• Service detection system;
• Diesel Theft Detection;
• GPS identification, monitoring and management tools.

On a second phase, a Driving Advisory System (DAS) installation, would be able to generate additional savings, as it calculates an optimal driving approach for peak efficiency and keeping the service punctuality, in addition to showing advice to the driver in real time, using vehicle and infrastructure mathematical models along with live data from the vehicle.
