More than 20 years of experience in Railway Systems – Rolling Stock.
Joined Portuguese Railways in 1996, as production engineer at EMEF – Diesel railcars fleet heavy maintenance and Railcars Refurbishment projects.
From 2000 till 2007 was the responsible of the EMEF North Engineering Department:
Rolling-stock overhauling engineering and Project Management for Railways rolling stock refurbishment projects. Director of the EMEF Engineering and Innovation Business Unit from 2007 till 2013.
Start-up and development of an Engineering and Innovation Business Unit at the Portuguese Railways. The aim was to create cost-saving solutions for reducing the Rolling Stock Life Cycle Cost, mainly optimizing the maintenance and operations management and the energy usage. Expert on Condition Based Maintenance Applications development.
Expert on Remote/Online Condition Monitoring Railways Applications development. Telemaintenance patent author.
Strong link with the academia on several funding / no funding projects and also on masters and PhD theses, namely related with the transportation market.
Graduated in Electronics and Computing Engineering – Porto University, Business School and a General Management Development Program by AESE/IESE.
SOFTWARE ENGINEERING & POWER SYSTEMS
15+ years working in Software Engineering Project Management and with Remote/Online Condition Monitoring – on-shore and on-board software applications.
Graduated in Computer Science for the Engineering School – Porto University (FEUP), with an ERASMUS exchange period at INSA-Lyon, France.
Started professional activity in 2001, participated in a project of Purchase Intelligence for Rabobank made during seven months in the Netherlands in 2003. Project Manager from 2003 to 2006 at Webware, from 2006 until 2009 was Netcall's CIO and in 2009 joined EMEF SA (CP Portuguese Railways – Maintenance branch).
Since 2009 was responsible for several Railways Projects (Remote/Online Condition Monitoring of CP’s Pendolinos and CP’s Oporto Commuters EMU’s; APC – Automatic Passenger Counting and PIS – Passenger Information System refurbishment at Metro do Porto; Ecodriving at CP’s Oporto Commuters EMU’s; OCM – Remote/Online Condition Monitoring at NSB – Norwegian State Railways), mainly related with Remote/Online Condition Monitoring.
ROLLING STOCK AND MAINTENANCE ENGINEERING
+19 years of experience in Railway Systems. Joined Portuguese Railways in 1997, as Production manager and technical responsible for the Railway Equipment Repair at EMEF: Hydraulic, Pneumatic, Diesel Power, Bogies.
From 2002 to 2004, worked on the Technical department for the refurbishment of Railway Rolling stock. Responsible for the repair and manufacture of welded constructions.
Between 2005 and 2008 was Head of Rolling Stock Test department – responsible for static and dynamic tests of the rolling stock. Cooperated with APNCF (certifying railway entity) on the approval of freight wagons, in accordance with European standards for interoperability. Technical manager of Diesel Railcars. EMU300 RCM development. Diesel Units 9400: modification of the bogies for the gauge of Mozambique.
From 2009 until 2011, Head of Technical department with technical and management responsabilities.
From 2012 to 2013, worked on the Innovation & Development Unit as Project Manager and Railway expert on Condition Based maintenance.
Project Manager of several international projects mainly related with Remote Online Condition Monitoring.
Graduated in Mechanical Engineering – Porto University.
